The Show Will Go On as Festival Vision:2025 set to publish second edition sustainability report

by Sophie Haigh | Jul 19, 2019

The Festival Vision:2025 Crowdfunder campaign, set up by not-for-profit group, Powerful Thinking, has exceeded its £25k Crowdfunder target, allowing them to publish a second edition of The Show Must Go On report.

The Crowdfunder raised a whopping £28,665 in 40 days, giving the group, made up of live events industry professionals, the go ahead to start work on the report, which will provide free-to-use, comprehensive, practical resources and advice for the industry. The report will advise the industry on how to reduce waste and minimise the impact that businesses are having on the environment. The guide is set to be launched at an industry event in December, with a limited edition printed report and a free downloadable version available on the new online ‘Vision2025 Knowledge Hub.’

NCASS’ very own Mark Laurie will be heading up the Food & Frink chapter; focusing on transportation, single use packaging, water use, de-forestation and land degradation waste.

The first edition of The Show Must Go On was delivered to the COP21 climate change talks in Paris as a festival industry response to the global issue. The reports laid out the impacts of the environmental industry for the first time and kickstarted Festival Vision:2025: a collaborative approach by the live events industry to reduce emissions at festivals by 50% by 2025.

Ahead of the report’s publication date, Powerful Thinking will also be hosting the third annual Festival Vision:2025 conference at The Showman’s Show on the 16th October; giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about the group’s agenda, meet the experts who’ll be writing the report, as well as event organisers and suppliers who are leading the way in sustainable practices. For the first time, the show will be open to all delegates to The Showman’s Show, as well as to event organisers who have pledged to cut their environmental impacts.

To book your place at The Showman’s Show, contact or sign up to Powerful Thinking newsletter for programme updates for the Festival Vision: 2025 conference at The Showman’s Show:
