Photography Tips

Here are out top tips for taking the best photos you can, even at a budget!

Focus

Having your photo in focus is essential. If your photos not in focus then your audience won't be able to see your food properly therefore not making it as attractive as it could be! When taking a photo with your phone you can simply focus the camera by touching the screen on what you're taking a photo of.

Remember: Try not to use the flash on your camera as it can often ruin your photos giving them a weird tinge!

Layout is key

When taking a photo you need to not only consider the subject, but the layout of it too. For the simple reason that it just gives it that little bit more of a professional look. Your food needs to look like something you'd want to eat, not just something that's been thrown together.

Remember: Consider the background of your food, what is it presented on? What does that represent? Taking longer to get it right is worth the effort.

Lighting

You can achieve good lighting on a photo easily without having to use any expensive equipment. The cheapest and best lighting is actually sunlight, which is completely free! Getting the right balance of sunlight is essential, as too much sun can put a glare on the camera where as not enough can make your photos dark.

Remember: Try not to use the flash on your camera as it can often ruin your photos giving them a weird tinge!

Subject

Taking photos of your food is more than just having a close up of what you cook! Its about seeing your audience eat your food, seeing your queues to show that you food is so amazing that people will queue for miles to eat. Of course, close up photos of your food is good too, but try to vary your photography so you get the maximum effect!

Remember: Taking photos of happy customers can bring in more potential customers!
