Education and awareness are key when it comes to LPG safety

Do you feel confident to be able to identify when a traders set up is unsafe or illegal?  Would you like the certainty that comes with the correct knowledge, to support compliance interventions, event safety work and to help businesses trade safely?  This could be key to public safety and driving up the standards of local traders, events, and festivals.

More needs to be done to raise the standards of mobile LPG and ultimately ensure the safety of the industry for all those involved in it.  When it comes to LPG, we all have a collective responsibility to keep things safe and uphold standards to promote best practice and safeguard the sector.

We have been researching and understanding the challenges that the use of LPG in the mobile catering sector brings. This has revealed that there is a lack of LPG safety support and training for mobile traders, event organisers and Environmental Health Professionals (EHPs).

We recently submitted a Freedom of Information request to local authorities across the UK.  This revealed that of the 235 local authorities that responded only 31% had received some form of training in mobile LPG in the last 5 years.  The extent of this training varied from HSE briefings and EHO cascade training to commercial gas safety training delivered by gas engineers who included mobile LPG as an element of wider commercial gas safety matters.  There has been a lack of dedicated relevant mobile LPG safety training available.

We believe that education is key when it comes to LPG safety.   So, we have brought together our expertise on mobile LPG along with our insight on the mobile catering and street food sectors to create a training package suitable for Environmental Health Professionals.

Available from January 2024!

The LPG training package includes:
