Fires can have devastating effects on a catering business. That’s why it’s really important that all food business owners, managers and supervisors undertake industry-specific training in the use of fire extinguishers and know how to keep staff and customers as safe as possible.

This Fire Extinguisher Essentials course will help you to deal with situations where fires break out, to understand the differences between firefighting equipment and to know which is the correct extinguisher to use in any given situation.

Course details

Aim of the course

To develop knowledge of how to operate a fire extinguisher, and the suitability of particular extinguishers for different scenarios.

Assessment criteria

20 multiple choice questions on a 20 minute timer. The pass mark is 15/20 (75%). Remember, there’s no limit on re-takes.

Course delivery method

The course is delivered online via our custom built training system. An internet connection is required for all NCASS Training courses.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of tackling a small fire in a catering environment.

Topics covered

Causes of catering fires, portable extinguishers, installation and training, fire types, when not to tackle a fire and more.

Certificate

Upon completion of the Fire Extinguisher training you’ll receive a personalised A4 certificate – laminated to withstand catering environments and dispatched on the next working day. Certificates contain a security hologram and your unique certificate number.

It’s valid for 3 years and shows enforcement officers and members of the public that you’ve gone the extra mile to get a certification that really means something.
