GRANT UPDATE

NCASS are delighted to announce that Birmingham City Council are keen to support NCASS member businesses with discretionary grants.

A number of members got in contact after saying they had been told they weren’t eligible for grants. It turned out that the traders had applied for the wrong one as they couldn’t find the correct application form.

Birmingham Council have asked NCASS to help ensure their members get the support by contacting us with details of their business and whether they haven’t applied or were unsuccessful, we will then share that information with the council department who will look into eligibility and financial support. Head of Business Enterprise and Innovation at Birmingham Council, Mohammed Zahir said.

Your customers have had such a terrible year with events closing down and uncertainties continuing, we want to help them, we want to protect jobs and your members create jobs. Small and micro businesses will be crucial in the economic recovery and Birmingham Council is determined to support where we can.

After a tough year it was great to get such a positive, can do response from the council, who are no doubt under a lot of pressures themselves. When the government asked local authorities to be adaptable and show understanding, this is what they meant. I hope other LA’s across England will show the same initiative and creativity to support members.
