1981 Mercedes Benz 409 Vintage Fire Engine Catering Unit for Sale We all know how difficult it is to get into shows…….this unit will get you on! We had intended to trade with it this year and add it to our existing fleet (please see www.facebook.com/thefryerengine) but our plans have changed and she’s now up for sale. The unit is completely self-contained with a large water tank, propane water heater, electric water pump, hand wash basin and washing up sink with hot and cold running water, large leisure batteries with inverter and charger. The truck has been down rated to 3.5 tons, so can be driven on a car licence. Alternatively it could be reinstated to its 4.6 ton weight classification if you wanted to carry more gear. Powered by a 2.3 petrol engine and has only done 30,000 kilometres……..that’s 19,000 miles in 40 years! She was converted by a boat builder friend of ours and he’s done the most amazing job. She has a bar and bottle cooler, so could do weddings and private events as well as festivals. The canopy spars are a thing of beauty and have stood up to gale force winds whilst trading. The unit comes with a vintage fire tender trailer that has a chimney installed, which would make a really attractive pizza oven, but could be used for other things. A fantastic looking water pump is housed on the front, which looks great, but can be removed without any fuss if you prefer.
