Chancellor announces further support for hospitality

Government advice on COVID-19 for hospitality

The Government today announced new support measures for businesses in tier 2 areas, this is outlined below.

Job Support Scheme

The Government has announced it will now pay at least 62% for hours not worked under the Open Job Support Scheme and employer contribution will be cut from 33% to 5%. Employees will now be able to take home at least 73% of pay for working a new minimum 20% of hours.

Self-employed grants

The government is doubling self-employed grants from 20% to 40%, meaning the maximum grant will go up from £1,875 to £3,750. Grants are available for all self-employed people (all tiers) who’ve stopped trading or have a significant fall in trade, with two further payments to come.

Local Restrictions Support Grant (Tier 2) What is the scheme?

Who is eligible?

Local authorities have the freedom to determine the precise eligibility criteria for these grants in their local areas. The guiding principle for local authorities is to use the funding to support businesses which have not been legally required to close, but which are nonetheless severely impacted by reduced demand caused by Tier 2 restrictions on socialising.

How can businesses access the grants?
