Unfortunately the Government’s statement this evening will not help our sector in the way it should.

Many mobile caterers are self-employed and will not be able to live off the scope that universal credit provides.
We are also deeply disappointed to have no clarity on whether there will be a ban on events thereby creating even more uncertainty on pitch fee refunds.

Cash grants are still only applicable for businesses who pay business rates. We feel that they should be made available to any and all hospitality businesses regardless of whether they operate a registered premises.

Loans are seemingly the only option here for our members and increased debt is not an attractive response to a situation that is completely out of anyone’s hands, that nobody could foresee and is nobody’s fault.

We will be continuing our fight to make our sector heard by the Government.

Please do all you can – sign our petition, write to your MP using our template, fill out our survey, speak to us if you need support.

This is far from over!
