NCASS is working on introducing a regional Ambassador Network aimed at deepening engagement with members, driving the growing voice of the sector, strengthening the member support NCASS provides across the regions, and amplifying advocacy across the sector.
The programme will build a network of influential, passionate independent food and drink business owners across both mobile and fixed sites who will:
- Represent the interests of our members and our messaging at regional level
- Support and encourage new members through referrals and local visibility.
- Support and champion our existing members’ success, resilience and compliance
We envisage NCASS Ambassadors will be:
- Independent food and drink business owners with credibility and presence
- Active and engaged NCASS members who are strong communicators, with exemplary networking skills.
- Confident in representing the interests of NCASS members to peers and stakeholders
- Able to support new and prospective members locally
- Able to commit to a morning or afternoon per month to ambassador activity and one call per quarter with NCASS and fellow ambassadors
What this means for you as a member
The network will benefit you and your business by:
- Giving you access to experienced operators in your area who understand local challenges
- Providing you with more localised support, alongside the NCASS team
- Helping you navigate regional issues like licensing, EHOs and council requirements
- Creating more opportunities to connect with other independent businesses in your area
- Strengthening the collective voice of independents at a local and national level
The survey on the proposal that NCASS introduce a member Ambassador Network was sent out to the NCASS membership in late May and the consultation closed in JJune.
NCASS would like to thank each and every member who took the time to respond, your views are extremely important to us.
The Results of the Survey
Question 1 – Do you think NCASS should introduce an Ambassador Network? 96% of respondents answered “yes” to this question. 4% of respondents answered “no” – indicating strong support for the proposal.
Question 2 – Benefits of an Ambassador Network. Respondents were asked to vote on the benefits to members of NCASS introducing a Network. The most important areas to respondents were the ability to have local networking with other hospitality businesses (41%) and being able to mentor and assist their peers and new hospitality businesses (41%). These two benefits represented the majority of responses. After the first two benefits, members said that strengthening the national voice was also important to them (39%). Helping members navigate region specific regulation garnered 35% and raising overall standards and professionalism scored the lowest with 31% voting for this area.
Question 3 – NCASS asked whether one morning or afternoon per month and one call per quarter was a reasonable “ask” for Ambassadors working within the Network. 94% of respondents answered “yes” with just 6% answering “no”.
Question 4 – Finally, we asked if respondents would be interested in applying to become an NCASS Ambassador. To this question (80%) answered that they would be interested in applying.
A range of options are being considered in this area and the NCASS team are reviewing the results of the survey in more depth before setting out further detail. Thank you once again for your time and responses and watch this space as there will be more updates to follow!
