ARG guidance new update 22/03/20

The ARG Guidance has been updated today to include a new paragraph (27 in the guidance and shown below). We have pushed for this to be included in the guidance so that is as clear as possible for local authorities to use this information when they are using their discretion to provide support for businesses. We hope that this alongside Ministerial and senior level engagement with local authorities, will help you, our members, to access the ARG support.

Paragraph 27 from the Additional Restrictions Grant Guidance for Local Authorities:

‘Local Authorities are encouraged to support businesses from all sectors that may have been severely impacted by restrictions but are not eligible for the Restart Grant scheme. This may include, but is not limited to, group travel and tour operators, other tourism businesses (including B&Bs and event industry suppliers), wholesalers, English language schools, breweries, freelance and mobile businesses (including caterers, events, hair, beauty and wedding related businesses), wraparound care providers, and other businesses that may have not received other grant funding. This list is not directive nor exhaustive, and Local Authorities should continue to issue grants at their discretion, based on local economic needs.’

This addition to the guidance clearly includes event industry suppliers, mobile caterers and wedding related businesses and is important because it specifies even more clearly who the ARG should support.
