Last weekend, on the 21st – 22nd September, Digbeth Dining Club celebrated its 12th birthday.
Honouring their humble beginnings, the celebrations took place in the form of a block party comprising a stellar line up of street food traders outside Hockley Social Club. This marked the first street closure event they’ve held since 2020. Digbeth Dining Club has experienced a meteoric rise over the past decade in tandem with the boom of street food popularity in the UK. They set the trend now engulfing the UK for immersive food court experiences that champion casual dining and bring people and food together, with most major cities and a lot of towns now featuring their own dedicated food court extravaganzas.
Growing a strong reputation within Birmingham, more recently Digbeth Dining Club has spread its wings and gone on tour, hosting temporary events showcasing the best in street food and mobile trading across the UK. This summer they hit spots all over the West Midlands and beyond throughout July, August and September in idyllic settings as traders and customers made the most of the sparing UK sunshine. They now operate two permanent sites within Birmingham, with Hockley Social Club and Herbert’s Yard – both of which have been firmly established as fan favourites and regularly rotate the traders in operation and see many hungry eyes pass through their doors.
Harry Jenkins, Head of Marketing commented:
Despite the pretty terrible weather we still managed to have a wicked day on St. George’s Street and inside Hockley Social Club. It felt like a real old school Digbeth Dining Club street closure from the pre-COVID years and it was just amazing to see so many old faces pop down and see us.
