Meet the Team: Sarah Moss

Sarah moss

Here at NCASS, there’s a passionate team working behind the scenes every day to make sure members get the most out of their membership – and we thought it was about time you got to know them!

Sarah Moss is Office Manager at NCASS and has been with the organisation for 8 years. She spent over 14 years working in banking from 2003 to early 2018, before joining NCASS in March 2018 – and hasn’t looked back since!

What are your main responsibilities as NCASS office manager?

My main roles and responsibilities of being an Office Manager here at NCASS are to help maintain the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone who works here. I manage the Admin Team, and we work together to make sure all our members get their Food Safety Management packs and documents in a timely manner. I support my team to be able to complete their tasks on a daily basis.

What’s one thing people might not realize you handle behind the scenes?

Now there are a few… empty the dishwasher, order the toilet rolls and teabags, and support with feedback for CPD training courses. I get in touch with trainees who have completed the course to gauge some feedback on how they found the course and to see if we can make it better in any way.

What’s one tip you’d give the team to make office life easier?

There is no I in team, we are all here to achieve the same goal; to support our members with helping them to run a successful business. If you are struggling, don’t be afraid to ask for support.

What skills do you think are most important in your role?

Communication, positive attitude, listening and being supportive.

What is the best thing about working with independent hospitality businesses?

I love watching people turn dreams into successful businesses. It’s amazing to see how people can adapt to change and how quickly they can do it. One bit of advice I will give is to make sure you promote yourself and your business. If you’re passionate about the food you’re serving up, show people. Social media platforms are important to show what you can do these days, TikTok especially, even if you’re not in front of the camera. Show people your food, your trailer or unit, where you will be.

What do you think is the best thing about NCASS membership?

The support and guidance you get through NCASS is exceptional in my eyes. With a lot of places you find that once you’re signed up, they don’t bother with you. But with NCASS, we give you guidance on completing your risk assessments, your company documents and whatever else you need. Whenever you pick the phone up there is always somebody there to help. The partnership deals we offer to members make running a business a little easier too.

What’s your go-to comfort food?

Well for those of you that know me… I do love my food! So many to choose from!

From Phata Phat, a butter chicken naan with masala fries

And for dessert, Scrumptious Stacks and their O.G scrumptious crumble… then I can never decide so I have half and half. With pure vanilla custard.

What would you name your food truck?

Mossie’s Munchbox.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I have an 11 year old son who I love spending time with; we get up to loads when we can. He is very much into this football, so yes, you have guessed it, I am one of those mum’s who will be shouting at the ref when I don’t agree with their decisions at every match!
