Introducing NCASS Verify – a new membership benefit

As part of the launch of Version 4 of the NCASS Safety Management System, we’re introducing NCASS Verify – a new way for members to quickly demonstrate their NCASS membership and Primary Authority status during inspections and compliance reviews.

A unique QR code will be included within your new SMS folder. When scanned by an Environmental Health Officer or authorised assessor, NCASS Verify will confirm:

• Your NCASS membership is current and valid
• Your business is covered by the NCASS Primary Authority partnership
• The regulatory framework supporting the NCASS Safety Management System

This gives you a simple, immediate way to demonstrate that you are operating with the support of NCASS and our government-backed Primary Authority partnership.

Why does NCASS Verify matter?

Being an NCASS member isn’t simply about having a Safety Management System. Your membership gives you access to regulatory guidance and a Primary Authority partnership designed to support a more consistent approach to how your business and SMS are assessed.

NCASS Verify makes that relationship more visible and easier to evidence.

It can help:

• Make inspections simpler – giving officers an immediate way to verify your NCASS membership and Primary Authority status.
• Support greater consistency – helping ensure your SMS is considered in line with the Primary Authority approach behind it.
• Demonstrate professionalism – providing clear evidence that your business is supported by an established compliance framework.
• Give you greater confidence – particularly when dealing with different Environmental Health Officers or local authorities.

Version 4 of the NCASS Safety Management System

We are also completing our annual review and update of the NCASS Safety Management System. Version 4 will include improvements to the Outdoor Electrical Safety Checklist, First Aid section and Fire Safety section.

The updated SMS and NCASS Verify will be available from October.

When you next renew your membership, you will receive Version 4 of the SMS, including your NCASS Verify QR page at the front of the folder. Keep this within your SMS so it is readily available during audits, inspections or compliance reviews.
