Statement from NCASS following the PM’s announcement

We welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement that venues, theatres and other large events are able to reopen from 19th July. It is positive news for our members and the wider industry who have had to endure months of lockdowns, forced closures and a lack of emergency funding for the sector.

The final confirmation of whether we will go ahead with moving into Step 4 will come on 12th July and with this, the advice for outdoor events will also be published by the DCMS (dept of culture, media & sport). We urge Government to provide clear guidance for organisers, traders and local authorities on the safe delivery of events no later than that date in order to give our members opportunity to plan and implement safe procedures during what is still such a difficult time.

Should we move into Step 4 on 19th July, the lifting of restrictions will include the removal of limits on gatherings, in addition to the end of the obligation to wear face masks or socially distance. All remaining businesses will be able to reopen and covid certification will not be required to enter venues or events.

NCASS is committed to supporting our members through the next phase and remains on hand if you need further help or advice on navigating the next few months.
