Another year of the British Street Food Awards has come to a close and the best in class have now been deservedly crowned. From thousands of initial applications that was thinned into hundreds of competitors, spanning multiple regional heats up and down the UK, the finals came down to twelve budding street food businesses.
NCASS members were well represented on the podium, with Burgervore, Chicken George and Back-A-Yard among the champions, winning (joint) Best Burger, Best Snack and People’s Choice respectively. Saving Nemo also placed as runners up for The Sustainability Award.
But it was Cardigan based, Welsh pasta aficionados Pasta A Mano who as well as winning Best Main Dish scooped up the overall Champion award. This is what they had to say about their victory:
“Street food can be many different things to many different people. For us, it is a platform to showcase stunning produce & ingredients that have been grown or produced within our rural community in West Wales. Our aim is to cook food which tells the story of our local landscape & the place we call home. We hope that our win the British street food awards will inspire others traders to go the extra mile in sourcing their ingredients. Not only will it support the local economy, but it will make their food even more unique.”
