Isolation period comes to an end as PM announces plans on “Living with Covid-19.”

Boris Johnson has this week announced the government’s new “Living with Covid-19” strategy.

The government aims to manage Covid-19 like any other respiratory illness such as flu and will as such be removing most domestic restrictions in England from this week.

Beginning today (24^th February), workers will no longer be required by law to self-isolate upon receiving a positive Covid test. They will also not be legally obliged to inform their employers when they test positive. The legal requirement to self-isolate for 7 days will also come to an end.

Free testing for people in England will come to an end on April 1^st, and face masks will be recommended but not a legal requirement.

Changes have also been made to statutory sick pay (SSP) for those who fall ill with Covid. Those who test positive and are unable to work will now only be able to claim SSP after day four. The £500 self-isolation support payment will also end.
