NCASS & The Hospitality Council

The Nationwide Caterers Association (NCASS) is delighted to be part of the Government’s new Hospitality Council

The Hospitality Sector Council is made up of experts who represent a cross-section of the sector, to support the delivery of the government’s Hospitality Strategy. NCASS are proud to represent independent catering businesses across the UK as part of the Council and are very much looking forward to sharing the views of their members & the wider industry and presenting solutions that will provide more opportunities for small businesses.

NCASS were contributors to the Hospitality Taskforce throughout the pandemic and have lobbied continuously for the independent sector which includes mobile, street food, event & festival caterers, bars, pubs, restaurants, and cafes. They are also part of the Primary Authority Scheme which has enabled the membership association to work closely with BEIS and Minister Scully who chaired the Hospitality Taskforce.

The Hospitality Council will be co-chaired by Minister Scully and hospitality leader & Chair of Prezzo Group, Karen Jones. The Government say that: ‘The council will identify and oversee actions related to the 22 commitments in the strategy, create sensible solutions using their expert knowledge and assess the strength of the sector.’

For NCASS, it is a significant milestone that small independent businesses such as Street Food businesses are now part of the conversation and plans for the future. NCASS’ board commented that:

“This is a fantastic opportunity to involve our members and the wider industry in the future of the hospitality sector. We represent a sector that is full to the brim with entrepreneurial spirit, drive, resilience and innovation and our work with the Hospitality Council will be focused on the opportunities they want and need. It’s vital that the innovative, agile and often under represented independent hospitality businesses in the UK are heard by government and we aim to give them that voice as we work together to build back a better even more vibrant hospitality sector that can adapt to the new environment ”
