Salt and Tar street food launch event

Salt and Tar

The upcoming Salt and Tar street food launch event will mark its first ever Winter Street Food Market, set to take place in Bootle over Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December.

The canal side venue will feature a raft of pop-up street food vendors offering a wide range of cuisines, with hot drinks and alcoholic beverages on offer alongside local giftmakers, making it a complete Christmas occasion.

There will be something for everyone at Salt and Tar in terms of entertainment provided, and the event hopes to bring a festive boost to Bootle.

This event has originated from the hospitality regeneration pilot scheme NCASS has been part of, working with the government’s Department of Business hospitality team in order to help rejuvenate high streets, using hospitality as the anchor.

The project aims to deliver education, development of skills and a pathway into employment, as well as support for new businesses and mentoring in the hospitality sector.

Run in association with Sefton Council and supported by Hugh Baird College and Sefton employment services, it seeks to benefit the local community for people and businesses alike.

NCASS director Mark Laurie stated: “This is a really exciting opportunity to put independent food businesses at the heart of the new high street. Many NCASS members hustled their way through Covid as best they could and we were determined to support them every step of the way. If successful, this scheme will create opportunities for NCASS members and start-ups, which could then be recreated or adopted by local authorities around the UK.”

It would be great for NCASS members to come down and check out the launch event and see if you’d like to get involved when the project relaunches! Get in touch with us about this at [email protected]
