Launch of 1st Annual UK Caribbean Food Awards

Caribbean Food

The first annual UK Caribbean Food Awards have been launched to showcase the very best in the industry – from top takeaway restaurants, food and drink, and business owners and entrepreneurs.

The awards for this fast-growing industry – now worth more than £100 million in the UK – have been set up by the founders of The Caribbean Food Collective which connects, promotes, and supports UK based Caribbean Food & Drink businesses and is a voice for the UK based Caribbean Food & Drink sector.

Dawn Burton and Marsha Barnett both also run individual catering businesses – JerkShack and Caribburton – and believe the industry needs a prestigious awards ceremony of its own.

Dawn says:

“This is the very first five-star event celebrating the best in Caribbean food and drink in the UK. The winners will be announced at a fabulous awards evening at The Marriott Hotel on Monday 9th October 2023.”

Marsha added

“Caribbean food is one of the most popular growing takeaways that people want to try (Source; Big Hospitality). Although attempted in the past, there is no current structure in place to assist Caribbean food and drinks businesses.”

The awards are to celebrate the hard work and be a platform for many of the hundreds of Caribbean food businesses some which have been in operation for over 30 years, with little to no business guidance or networking, there is a lot of work to be done but the awards ceremony is a good positive place to start.

Categories currently include Best Restaurant, Best Takeaway, Best Bakery, Best African & Best Latin Eateries, Best Beverage, Best Vegan and Vegetarian Eatery.

Winners will benefit from a PR package to help them promote both their win and their products and exposure at the ceremony with important corporate contacts, chefs and celebrities. In addition to social media opportunities for promotion there will also be cash prizes and trophies for each category.

Sponsorship packages are still available.
