Festivals in Full Swing: June Roundup

Glastonbury Festival

With the start of June came beaming sunshine, the sound of ice cream vans rolling through residential streets and the return of many established and much-loved festivals such as Glastonbury.

NCASS members took a prominent role in putting the ‘icing on the cake’ of many a summer wedding, whilst street food favourites including Taste Tibet, Anna Mae’s Mac N Cheese and The English Indian amongst many more, took to the culinary stage once again to feed hungry festival goers and crews. We caught up with a couple of our members to find out what it’s like to be back in the festival field.

Claire Brazier of Buddha Foddha:

‘We absolutely LOVE the festival season! We meet so many awesome people and because we serve vegan and gluten-free street food, our customers are so grateful as we’re told that they would often struggle with food options to suit their dietary needs. It’s hard graft, but when you have such a great team, you can enjoy the banter with your customers and soak up the atmosphere.’

Toby Ginger of Wood Fired Pizza Shack:

“June has been an incredible month filled with excitement! Our newest addition to the pizza shack family – The Wood Fired Pizzeria – has found its home at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and has been met with great enthusiasm by attendees.

In addition, our festival unit – The Pizza Shack – had the opportunity to serve at Forbidden Forest and the Eppingham Dog Show. Our little Wood Fired Pizza Shack has been working its magic at Derby Cricket, local pop-ups in Leicestershire, and a multitude of beautiful weddings.

We thoroughly enjoy the amazing atmosphere of every event we attend, from the big to the small, they are all unique experiences. As we venture further into summer, our schedule becomes even more packed, and we can’t wait to serve our mouthwatering thin-crust pizzas to even more people.”

In other news this month…

The first annual UK Caribbean Food Awards was launched to showcase the very best in the industry, and NCASS caught up with some of the amazing people behind Poppy’s Pineapple’s, Esmie’s Caribbean Kitchen and The Good Stuff for a chat about their businesses.
